This year, the Feldenkrais for All Performers Workshop and the National Summer Cello Institute will be held in Caroga Lake, NY as part of the Caroga Arts Collective.

About the National Summer Cello Institute (NSCI): Two intensive weeks combining the principles of somatic education with varied approaches to cello mastery designed to redefine how cellists perform and teach. Participants experience an introduction to Feldenkrais with fellow musicians in the Feldenkrais For All Performers program, and continue in private lessons, master classes and seminars dedicated to expanding
artistic freedom.

The Feldenkrais Workshop for All Performers is part of the NSCI program and tuition.

Tuition, Meals, and Housing?

Unlike previous years, tuition for the NSCI & Feldenkrais for All Performers tuition includes meals and housing!

National Summer Cello Institute (includes Feldenkrais for All Performers) 2017 Tuition:

  • Professional Tuition for NSCI (includes Feldenkrais Workshop + Meals + Housing!) = $1,725.00
  • Student Tuition for NSCI (includes Feldenkrais Workshop + Meals + Housing!) = $1,665.00

Where is NSCI being held?:

  • NSCI 2017 will be held in Caroga Lake, NY as part of the Caroga Arts Collective. The Caroga Arts Collective’s is located just northeast of the intersection of Route 29A and County Road 112 in the Town of Caroga.

Travel:

  • Albany International Airport is the designated airport to fly into and out of for the Feldenkrais and NSCI workshops.
  • Amtrak Station - Amsterdam (AMS) The Amtrak Station in Amsterdam is the closest train stop to Caroga Lake.
    • 466 West Main Street, Johnstown, Amsterdam, NY 12010, United States
  • Shuttle Pick-up and Drop-off
    • Caroga Arts Collective will be providing a shuttle pick-up and drop-off at both the Amsterdam Amtrak Station and the Albany International Airport.

Accommodations:

  • Cellists will stay at either the Nick Stoner Inn or with host families thanks to the many Caroga Arts Collective House Donors and Host Families. New this year: Accommodations are included in the tuition!

How many cellists attend NSCI?

  • The exact number varies slightly from year to year but generally 20-22 applicants are accepted. 

When will I find out whether or not I am accepted into NSCI?

  • Uri Vardi will receive and review all submitted applications. We will be sending out a confirmation email by TBA.
